Debbie Katip with her grandson, Aiden. Aiden died on February 21, as the result of injuries sustained in a house fire.

Services for Aiden Katip, the nearly nine-year-old grandson of Dr. Bill and Debbie Katip (he’s president of Grace College and Seminary) have been scheduled. They will be held March 4 in Pleasant Hills, Pa. A complete schedule and an obituary appear below.

The Katips have been appreciative of the support they have received. “The Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to teach us that as believers we are to…walk by faith, not by sight: 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV). Right now, this is what we are doing…walking by faith in our Lord and the promises of His Word. We can’t walk by sight, and we are certainly not walking by our feelings,” Bill wrote on his Facebook page over the weekend.

“One of the main ways the Lord is helping us get through this deeply painful time is through the notes, calls, texts, and Facebook messages from our family and friends. Paul wrote about this too in Galatians when he said we are to bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 (NIV). Thanks for doing exactly what Paul told you to do!!”

Aiden William Katip, 8, of Carrick, Pa., was taken too soon on February 21, 2018. He is survived by his mother, Melanie (Sam Korbra) Katip; father, Mike Katip; siblings, Ashley, Sammy, Chris, and baby brother Collin Korbra; grandparents, Bill and Debbie Katip; great-grandparents, John and Jean Cahill; as well as many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Judy Forsythe. He was in third grade at Concord Elementary, where he was in the Gifted Program. He will forever be missed by his family and friends. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, March 3, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Rd., Pleasant Hills, 15236. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 4, 1 PM, in the funeral home chapel. Condolences may be left at www.jeffersonmemorial.biz.
